Services
These are the ways that I can help improve your mental health! While medication management and brief supportive therapy are services that I utilize with nearly all of my patients, I am happy to include or omit any of these based on your needs and desires! Because my fees are time-based (see Pricing tab for more info), there are no additional or different costs for any of these services, except where indicated (costs of prescriptions/supplements, and pharmacogenomic testing services).
Scared to try prescription medication for the first time? Feel like your current medications aren’t working, or that the ones you’ve tried in the past didn’t help? Had a bad experience with a previous prescription?
I can help! I have worked with many patients who have found themselves in this situation. My patients frequently tell me that they appreciate the fact that I listen, educate, and truly care about their mental health and well-being! I will meet you where you are and will (figuratively) hold your hand through the entire medication management process to ensure that you feel safe and confident to take your prescriptions!
Please note that, while I can prescribe most mental health medications, I do not have my DEA license, meaning that I am not able to prescribe controlled substances (stimulants/benzodiazepines).
I’m a firm believer in utilizing a multi-modal approach when working to improve my patient’s mental health. If a provider focuses solely on medication management and nothing else, I think they are doing you a disservice. As helpful as medications can be, they have significant limitations. If certain areas of your life are negatively impacting your mental health, no amount of pills will help. I work with you to help identify areas of your life that are within your power to change and improve– in actionable ways that work for you, your needs, and your brain!
Prefer a more holistic or integrative approach to your mental health care? When appropriate, I like to incorporate supplements like vitamins, minerals, and herbs into the treatment plans I create for my patients! Supplements, like prescription medications, have their limitations, risks, and benefits. I take the time to discuss all of that information with you when discussing potential supplement options.
I’m not a “one medication fits all” provider: each treatment plan is unique to the patient I create it for. While some components are standard recommendations that I know to be generally helpful, each plan also has specifics that are added as I get to know you and your needs better.
For patients that are interested, we can do an even deeper dive into personalizing your mental health care by exploring the ways that your body utilizes, responds, and reacts to medications and supplements through pharmacogenomic testing! This service is optional, and it does require some additional expenses, though I do have some creative ways to help minimize additional costs for those who are interested.
Interested in learning a new skill that you can keep in your mental health toolkit? One that you can practice almost anywhere, that can help provide relief from stress, pain, and anxiety, and improve sleep, focus, and your overall mental health?
Mindful self-hypnosis is an excellent option! This skill can be taught in either 6 or 12 appointments (depending on the situation), and will include customized induction recordings that you will be able to store and access on your phone!
While I am not a therapist and do not have training to provide other, more intensive therapeutic modalities (yet!), I do incorporate brief supportive therapeutic practices as a standard. I find these techniques to be helpful in building stronger connections and improving outcomes with my patients, but they are not a substitute for therapy with a licensed provider.
In addition to the standard intake appointment (which assesses for the most common mental health diagnoses), I can also provide additional, more in-depth assessments for ADHD and/or autism.
These are two separate assessments, both scheduled for 90 minutes (which can be broken up into multiple, shorter appointments if desired). Both of these assessments also involve the completion of additional paperwork/questionnaires, which can be done at your own pace and time outside of an appointment to help you save some money. Alternately, if you feel you need the additional support, I am happy to complete the questionnaires with you during a scheduled appointment!
Need help solving everyday problems, figuring out a better career path, or improving interpersonal relationships? I can work with you to find solutions for the little (or big!) things in life that medications won’t fix but can still significantly impact your mental health all the same.
Sometimes, it can be hard to find a mental health care provider that vibes with you on one level or another. If you have received a diagnosis or prescriptions/recommendations from another provider that feel “off”, “wrong”, or “not good enough”, and you would like to get a second opinion, I can you give my personal impression and recommendations without prescribing anything at your intake appointment. From there, you can take the time you need to consider your options. If you decide that you would like to continue care with me, you can just reach out to me via your Spruce Health account/app and I’ll get you back on my schedule! (Please note that if it has been more than 6 months since your last appointment, you may need to be re-established as a patient, which may require a longer appointment time.)
